QB
1.
Gimme: Aaron
Rodgers—He’s shredding defenses and faces St. Louis this week. Bench the
rest of your team, you won’t need them.
2.
Game-Changer:
Tony Romo—He would have fit into the “Gimme” category if he hadn’t been
throwing multiple interceptions in the 4th quarter. I put him here
specifically for the owner that might have Romo and Matthew Stafford (I do).
This week, I would actually start Romo over Stafford based on their matchups.
3.
Gamble: Sam
Bradford—He has also fallen from higher ranks. St. Louis has gone from the
favorite to win the division to barely worth noticing. If Green Bay can avoid another
slow start, they should be up early and force Bradford into 50+ pass attempts
against a vulnerable secondary.
RB
1.
Gimme: Matt
Forte—The Bears still can’t get their offense going, but they have learned
that giving the ball to Forte results in their best chance to win, as he has
gotten 25 and 22 carries his last two games. He had over 100 yards rushing on
Monday night against a defense better than he faces this week.
2.
Game-Changer:
Cedric Benson—This is assuming he goes another week without having a
suspension levied against him. He gets the Colts porous run defense this week.
3.
Gamble: Ryan
Torain—It’s scary for fantasy owners dealing with Shanahan’s use of his
running backs, but Torain was the latest to see the majority of the workload,
so I’d go with him this week ahead of Hightower or Helu against the Wide-9
technique the “dream team” uses.
WR
1.
Gimme:
Hakeem Nicks—There should be plenty of love going around to the Giants
receivers in this matchup, but desperately in need of a win, I think Eli
Manning looks for Nicks early and often in this game.
2.
Game-Changer:
A.J. Green—Just when I thought Julio Jones was proving my preseason
prediction correct of him being the better rookie, he goes and gets hurt after
only one catch in week 5. Green will certainly be the better wideout this week
against the Colts.
3.
Gamble:
Victor Cruz—He is picking up steam in many leagues after another solid
fantasy day, but he is far from a sure thing. I’d be willing to gamble on him
this week, but wouldn’t be surprised if he laid an egg.
TE
1.
Gimme: Vernon
Davis—He was in this slot last week, but I’m not wavering. I was right
then, and I’ll be right this time as well.
2.
Game-Changer:
Kellen Winslow—Only because New Orleans give up points to tight ends, but
if he only manages four points this week, give him up and find yourself someone
else because this is a matchup he should exploit.
3.
Gamble: Aaron
Hernandez—He is currently listed as questionable, so monitor this
throughout the week. However, it will be his second week back from injury and I
look for him to get more involved in the offense.
D/ST
1.
Gimme: Jets
D/ST—Their defense actually hasn’t been that impressive this season, but
they’ve scored touchdowns on defense and kick returns. You’ve got to go with
them this week against the Dolphins, who just lost Chad Henne for the season.
2.
Game-Changer:
Bengals D/ST—Surprisingly, the Colts offense hasn’t looked that bad since
Curtis Painter took over. However, I think it will be a bit tougher against
this defense on the road.
3.
Gamble:
Vikings D/ST—If you’re desperate, Cutler is bound to get sacked four or
five times.
Kicker Pickup of
the Week: Rian Lindell—I like the Buffalo offense to move the ball on every
drive, and I like the Giants defense just enough to get a few red-zone stops,
which will result in field goals.
